  • PRE-MBA (Foundation) Program

In general, students those who are seeking admission with an Undergraduate degree earned from a non business discipline are required to undergo the Pre-MBA (foundation) program by taking the following six (6) courses; in particular, students holding an undergraduate degree in a business discipline but have not studied any of the six courses in the Pre-MBA (Foundation Program are required to successfully complete those courses with a C grade or better prior to fully accepted into the MBA program. In case a student, who has taken any of the pre-MBA course(s) from a recognized institution may be exempted from such course(s) provided he or she submits an official transcript for evaluation at the time of admission. However the decision on the exemption will be made jointly by the MBA Program Coordinator and Academic Dean upon carefully reviewing the course contents. The following are the courses that are chosen to establish the required knowledge for a student to cope up with the MBA program curriculum as these courses provide the basics for non-business students:

    1.    KAL 1013 – Business Accounting

    2.    EEB 1013 – Principles of Economics

    3.    GDN 2023 – Business Statistics

    4.    WFF 1013 – Fundamentals of Finance

    5.    PMN 1013 – Introduction to Management

    6.    PMM 1013 – Introduction to Marketing

All these courses are equivalent to 3 credit hours in an Undergraduate level. These credits cannot be used towards replacing any of the postgraduate level courses. All of these courses are offered at the UUM College of Business undergraduate program, so it enables the aspirants to pick up any of these courses during the regular semesters of the Undergraduate program. Whatever the courses that are un-scheduled or not offered at the Undergraduate program will be exclusively planned and scheduled for the purposes of pre-MBA program provided there are a minimum number of students who have opted to take a course in a given semester if it is found operationally feasible. With regard to the planning and scheduling of the pre-MBA, typically a student with a non-business degree background will take at least one semester to complete the program. However, hypothetically, a student who has studied in engineering discipline might have completed a course in statistics and/or management. In this scenario, s/he may be exempted from the requirements of those courses at the pre-MBA level, hence, a student of this scenario may be able to complete the pre-MBA program easily in one semester.
