Rezzen says farewell to Aisyah

After a close association of 23 years, Aisyah takes early retirement from Rezzen after having been closely associated with both of us. She was with Dato Zuraina, first as a project assistant to her with Project Archaeology Malaysia, then as a special officer with Pusat Arkeologi Malaysia, both at USM (Penang). She then moved to Kuala Lumpur, ending up with me at Mahirnet, and now Rezzen as Office Manager and Program Co-ordinator. Meanwhile at Rezzen succession goes on — Diva takes over program co-ordination, Naimah and Aminah accounts, and the software team is made up of Ariffah, Amir, Hakiim and Azmi, all of whom will miss Aisyah's guiding hand. The marketing function is shared.

Aisyah came to us from a computer tutoring company in Penang some 23 years ago. Who is to know then, her life would become so intertwined with both of us. We were there at her weddings, at the birth of Hallyna, her daughter who is now all of 12 years of age.

Her best years were with Rezzen where she provided yeomen service and was of great help to all students and UUM lecturers. She saw batches and batches of students graduate, knew their families, children, helped me employ several children of our students such as Puteri (now with Petronas) and Atiyah (doing a Masters degree in Leeds). Both were outstanding marketing executives!  I do not need to say how helpful she was to me, doing my personal work and following up on all my deadlines, projects and papers I had to write, while also sparing me of the heavy drudgery of daily routine work. She was a colleague and friend to all those who worked for us — tough and disciplined — but most of all caring. Her life became more intertwined with Rezzen when one of our students and MBA graduate, Sohadis who hails from Johor, proposed and married her.

Rezzen is sad to have to say farewell to her but wishes her a happily earned retirement to recuperate from her recent spell of bad health. She will always be an important part of us, and will always be welcome to visit and be with us as we move on to new chapters. Some two or three years ago, Aisyah called Datin Paduka Zuraina, asking her if she remembered the day of her job interview with us in August 1988.  Datin said, "of course" and she was at the same time herself  preparing to come to the office that same day with an heirloom as a keepsake she had prepared for her and to give her to remember us by.

Aisyah, may Allah bless you and keep you and your family in good health and happiness. Farewell, goodbye and we will pray for you always.
